Why Should I Join A Wine Club?
By L.Jon RuhbarbWine clubs are an interesting new phenomenon that can provide us with interesting, high quality wines on a regular basis. This is great if you live somewhere that good wine is not readily available, or you simply don’t like going out and buying new ones constantly. Anyone who truly loves wine, or would like to love wine, should investigate whether or not a wine club is the right choice for them.
A wine club membership has a lot of benefits, including special prices available only to club members, and early access to wines that have not been released to the rest of the public yet. Members of clubs at a winery may also receive invitations to events that others will not be permitted to attend, free tours of the winery, and even private tastings by appointment.
Winemaker and owner dinners and tastings are two types of events that club members may receive access to, in addition to delivery of high quality wines on a regular basis. Newsletters and email lists are often created for club members only, and allow them to keep in touch with what is going on at the winery.
Most wine clubs are themed, and so are the wines they offer. Seasonal distribution is common, as are clubs that offer only white wine, only red wine, a specific mix of the two, and even unusual and specialty wine clubs.
While they’re still relatively new, wine clubs keep on growing. As more and more people develop an awareness of them and their benefits, the membership increases. More of us are learning to appreciate good wine.
There are lots of varieties of wine clubs, but a few things stay consistent. Most of the time, you’ll get the ability to choose how many bottles you get, according to membership level. The majority of wine clubs will also help you learn more about their wines.
Clubs that ship on a monthly basis will send between one and four bottles each time, while quarterly clubs might send between two and twelve. This amount of variation means that it’s easy to tailor your membership to the amount of wine you drink.
There are clubs out there that ship from a number of different sources all over the world, from specific wine regions, and even which ship just one varietal. Single vineyard wine clubs are among the most popular type there is.
This is the type that offers the greatest number of additional benefits, and members know that they will receive consistency from their vineyard. In many cases, members will also receive quality information about each of the wines offered, enabling them to learn a lot more about this valuable hobby.
If you’re a wine lover who wants to try a lot of different wines, this could be the best choice for you. Check out your local vineyard to find out if they have a wine club. You’ll always have a bottle for your table and you’ll get the chance to try some of the best wines available.
